The weerol chassis is made by molding layers of wood veneers in a form under great pressure. “Bentply” is a term sometimes used to describe molded plywood, usually for furniture. Bentply was popularized in the 1930’s by designers like Alvo Aalto and Charles Eames. Modern techniques allow for quicker and stronger forming by using high frequency sound generators that speed up the curing time for the adhesives.
The adhesives used are ultra-low- formaldehyde emmission, and CARB certified.
The machining of the formed plywood is done on a CNC milling and drilling machine to ensure every attachment point is precisely positioned. Because Weerol assembles in many configurations, precision is essential.
Weerol is finished using non-toxic, water based paints and varnishes.
We understand that weerol will probably be used outside occasionally, however it is not it’s intended usage. Toys used outdoors will often be left outdoors, and it will only take a couple days left in the rain and sun before deterioration is likely to occur, which is damage our warranty will not cover. Birch plywood is a great looking wood for indoor use, but if left outdoors it will expand, putting a lot of stress on the bends. Our TPE treads are optimized for quiet use on hardwood floors, but abrasive surfaces like asphalt will leave them marred, particularly if it is being ridden on. All these issues are why we tend to discourage outdoor use, but it really depends on the situation. Pushed around on the lawn with a cargo of stuffed animals? Sure! Used as a mud-pie-dump-truck or a toboggan? not so much!
A single weerol kit weighs approximately 7.5 lb ( 3.4kg) and measures 20.4” L x 13.5” H x 9.5” W. See full dimensions here
Weerol is recommended for ages 18 months to 6 years.
While we encourage you to assemble Weefab Toys with your child, it is essential that it is performed under adult supervision, The Weefab Ballscrew system requires adult hand strength to properly tighten the parts together, and the axle assembly is potentially dangerous if unassembled and left pointing up. When un-assembling the “weel” and axle assembly, ensure to always fasten them together for storage.
We recommend frequently checking Weefab Toys for loose parts, damaged wood and splinters, however Weefab Toys should not require any care over their lifetime if used and stored indoors as intended. Outdoor use is not covered by our warranty, and may cause extra wear and degradation of the finishes and materials. If Weefab Toys get wet for any reason, immediately dry thoroughly with a towel. Molded birch is very strong and beautiful, but not intended for damp environments.
Weerol has a maximum weight limit of 60lb. (15kg.)
Weerol is strong and durable, however please refrain from riding Weerol if you are an adult (as tempting as it may seem!). Overloading will result in bent axles, and nullifies the warranty.
